Rosacea

Rosacea is redness of the face, usually in a butterfly-shaped pattern. It appears across the nose and cheeks, often with pimples, thinning skin, vascular lines and irritation of the eyes. It can be an uncomfortable and embarrassing condition and difficult to hide or cover-up.

Rosacea can be made worse with triggers such as spicy foods, alcohol or extreme weather. It can also spread further to different areas of the body such as the back, neck and ears. There’s even evidence to suggest that an imbalance of your bodies bacteria or conditions such as diabetes or celiac disease can cause it.

It is more common in women than men, but the symptoms tend to be more severe for males. It can also cause something called Rhinophyma – the swelling of the nose – due to the skin cells of the nose becoming inflamed and enlarged.

The redness of the condition is caused by damaged or dilated capillaries under the skins surface, so cannot be sufficiently improved without specially designed treatments that target the capillaries. Luckily, there is a range of treatments and products out there specifically formulated to help those suffering from Rosacea.
