Medical Microneedling Treatments

Microneedling/collagen induction as they are also known, help increase the production of new collagen to leave skin looking smoother and healthier. As we get older, the amount of collagen in our skin falls, which results in a thinner, duller, lined complexion with larger pores.

Offering minimal downtime, this treatment, which is ideal for ageing, large pores, damaged or acne-scarred skin, sees anaesthetic cream applied (optional) before a roller is used to create tiny punctures in the skin stimulating its healing response. After several weeks and months, this response triggers the production of new collagen, helping to restore the complexion.

Medical micro-needling is the ultimate treatment for the non-surgical and non-ablative treatment of various skin conditions such as ageing (wrinkles, stretching), scarring (acne, surgical), skin tightening (firming) and hyperpigmentation.

In addition to the above benefits of micro-needling treatments also improves the penetration of creams, gels and oils on the skin, ensuring that skin products are able to penetrate the skin more effectively resulting in a healthier and smoother complexion. It can also be combined with our Healthy Skin for Life programme to provide longer-lasting results.

What happens during the treatment?

Your skin specialist will apply the topical anaesthetic, if required, to your skin 30 to 45 minutes prior to the treatment to make the treatment painless. It will usually take up to 45 minutes for the numbing cream to work.

Your practitioner will use a professional medical grade Dermaroller to pass your skin 15-20 times in horizontal, vertical, and oblique directions on the different areas of the face.

The rolling will produce thousands of micro-medical needle-columns in the skin. Each column will penetrate into the dermis of the skin and will be approximately 0.1mm in width. The column will close rapidly enabling the skin to recover quickly.

The entire treatment should take 15 to 20 minutes, depending on the size of the area to be treated. A minimum of 4 weeks is recommended between two treatments as it takes that long for new natural collagen to form.
